A unique place, between nature and authenticity.
Nestled in Rancennes, just 3 km from Givet and 5 km from the Belgian border, the Château de l'Aviette cultivates a delightful paradox: it is both perfectly accessible and wonderfully secluded. Its 6-hectare estate, surrounded by woods and perched above the meanders of the Meuse River, offers absolute tranquility that can be savored from the very first moment.
The greenway runs directly alongside the property and is accessible from the grounds via a gate. A real boon for cyclists who can leave their panniers, take a break, and set off again the next morning with rested legs and a full stomach. A secure shelter with charging points is provided for your bicycles.
Rooms that tell a story.
On the upper floor of the castle, our fully renovated rooms, offered in three categories to suit all budgets – Exclusive, Deluxe, or Standard – blend old-world charm with modern comforts: air conditioning, private bathroom, quality bedding, and a welcome tray. Several rooms offer views of the Meuse River, while others overlook the lush woods surrounding the estate.
On the ground floor, a lounge with a fireplace and a dining area await you for convivial moments. When the weather is fine, enjoy a relaxing moment on the terrace.
The guest table: the well-kept secret of L'Aviette.
This is perhaps where the most beautiful surprise of the stay lies. In the evening, Daphné – your chatelaine and devoted hostess, from a family of Belgian chefs – takes command of her kitchen and concocts tasty dishes inspired by French gastronomy: confit duck legs, beef bourguignon, coq au vin, veal blanquette, lamb shank with thyme, homemade cassoulet… her dishes delight the guests.
Our vegetarian friends are not forgotten: red lentil dahl, eggplant parmigiana or vegetable curry are available on request.
In summer, it's time for gourmet salads: Italian salad with Italian ham and its runny burrata with green pesto and balsamic cream, classic Caesar salad or ocean version.
Remember to book your dinner at least 24 hours before your arrival (48 hours in advance for Sunday arrivals and 3 days in advance for groups of more than 6 people).
The table d'hôtes is offered as a single course at €24, as a two-course menu (main course and dessert) at €34, or as a complete three-course dinner at €42 only for groups of 8 people or more.
It's the warmth of a convivial and hearty meal in an intimate setting.
A welcoming atmosphere open to Europe.
Located at the gates of Belgium, the Château de l'Aviette welcomes its guests in French, Dutch and English – a valuable asset for the many cyclists and travellers from Belgium, the Netherlands or elsewhere who travel the routes of the Meuse.
For all travellers.
Whether you are on a romantic getaway, a weekend with friends, a family holiday or simply looking for a break in nature, the castle adapts to your desires.
