Inside the War and Peace Museum, a door opens to a virtual world, where memories of the First World War come to life in video games. Two worlds never before brought together in the rooms of a museum, and yet omnipresent on the screens of nearly 37,4 million players in France.
From July 4, the “War Games” exhibition shows you how video game developers are tackling the history of the Great War. The scenographic journey immerses you in the world of war games thanks to a dialogue between archive images, period objects and video game visuals dealing with the Great War and a reflection documented and enlightened by the precious testimony of historians , developers, teachers and players.
“War Games – Playing with History” is also an exhibition in which you are the main player! A dedicated room allows you to test around ten video games, including four which are presented in the exhibition: the Unknown Soldiers series (Ubisoft), Battlefield 1 (Dice and Electronic Arts), Verdun 1914-1918 (BlackMill Games) and Toy Soldiers (Signal Studios). The opportunity to put the purpose of the exhibition into practice through scenarios, gaming experiences and different graphics.
Exhibition designed and organized by the Mémorial'14-18 Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, the Defense Communication and Audiovisual Production Establishment (ECPAD) and the Ardennes Departmental Council through the War and Peace Museum.
With the contribution of Electronic Arts studios, Dice, BlackMill Games and video game publisher Ubisoft
