La Bête Noire delves into a woman's struggles with her demons. The body bends, twists, rises, and clings to a sculptural column-like apparatus. Shadows, lights, and sounds create a space where each vertebra seems to speak. In Petite Reine, a solar artist rides her bicycle, a metaphor for the man she fell in love with, in a scenography sculpted with light. A frantic race emerges to free herself from injunctions.
Through this sensitive and physical diptych, complementing her large collective forms (including La Chute des anges, hosted at the TCM), Raphaëlle Boitel, ex-contortionist, summons a straightforward circus, which questions our inner struggles and our need for freedom.
