Since the end of the 1880th century, and through the vagaries of succession, the territory of Rethel has maintained a close link with the principality of Monaco. Several of its princes lived in the Ardennes and the charter of the Counts of Rethel has been preserved since XNUMX in the Princely Archives of Monaco.

An exhibition that will open next week at the Musée de l'Ardenne (see attached poster) tells the story of the county-duchy of Rethel-Mazarin from the year 1000 to the Revolution. Organized by the departmental archives of the Ardennes, it draws on exceptional documents, iconographic sources and works of art, most of which have never been shown to the public, and which come from major heritage institutions: the Archives of the Palace of Monaco, the National Library of France, the National Archives, the Archivio di Stato di Mantova, as well as from several private collectors.

Léo Davy, director of the departmental archives of the Ardennes, offers you a guided tour of the exhibition on the following dates:
– Saturday March 8 at 15 p.m.;
– Wednesday March 12 at 14 p.m.;
– Thursday, March 20 at 14 p.m.;
– Sunday March 23 at 15 p.m.;
– Tuesday, March 25 at 9 a.m.
