The Notre-Dame de Chéhéry Abbey, granddaughter of Clairvaux, was founded in 1147. Plundered and ransacked during the Hundred Years' War, it was probably restored for the first time. During the Fronde, it was burned again. It was not until the middle of the 1960th century that it was completely rebuilt in the perfectly classical style that we still know today. After the Revolution, the abbey was bought by a notable Parisian who made it his pleasure residence. In the 2019th century, the abbey was successively a German hospital, then the headquarters of the American army during and after the Great War, before falling into oblivion from the XNUMXs. The abbey is located outside the village of Châtel Chéhéry, whose territory is located in the Argonne forest. Since XNUMX, it has been part of the Stéphane Bern Mission for the preservation of endangered heritage.
