Exposition : Serge Anton – La tribu

Serge Anton has been working as an artist in residence in the Ardenne Métropole media library network since 2023. During these two years, the photographer and designer helped us redevelop our two exhibition rooms in Sedan and Charleville-Mézières, transformed into Black boxes.

A first exhibition was held in these two spaces in the spring of 2024, De près, de loin. It was a great success and allowed many readers and fans of our media libraries to better discover his photographic work focused on portraits and landscapes, produced over thirty years on 5 Continents. A catalog was published on this occasion retracing the artist's career, both in Sedan and around the world, on an architectural and photographic level.

The last part of this residency opens in the fall: a new work, produced in the Ardennes. The people photographed are from the region or from Belgium, with a majority from Sedan. Les Chauves et Poilus are at the heart of its aesthetic: a reflection on the passage of time and is inscribed in and on the surface of bodies. As with the previous exhibition, this project contains two parts that complement each other and are presented simultaneously in Charleville-Mézières and Sedan. During the exhibition, a new selection of photos will be presented in both locations from November 16.
