Adapted from “The Girl Without Hands” by the Brothers Grimm, La Manékine tells the story of a young girl whose hands were cut off to appease the devil, depriving her of her freedom to act. Thus begins an initiatory journey that is both luminous and bloody: how to find her body, her heart, her path?
Between burlesque and poetic thrill, a puppeteer and a one-man band use a multitude of means and instruments to bring this story to life. Masks, shadows, wooden figures, and music weave a sensitive universe to reveal this timeless tale.
