Joy and pride mixed with the announcement of the result by Stéphane Berne: le Sedan Castle was elected “French favorite monument 2023”! It succeeds the transatlantic station of Cherbourg and the submarine Le Redoutable within the Cité de la mer which represented Normandy in 2022.
Thanks for your votes !
Let's say it straight: We are very happy and proud of this great victory in front of prestigious French monuments such as the Cluny Abbey (Saône-et-Loire) which came in second place, the Notre-Dame de Fourvière Basilica in Lyon (Rhône), the royal castle of Blois (Loir-et-Cher), the national library of France, Richelieu site in Paris or the ancient sites of Vaison-la-Romaine (Vaucluse) to name but a few.
So yes a big thank you to all of you who with your votes were able to make this success possible. The love you have for this monument, largest fortified castle in Europe it must be remembered, and his majesty will have been the strongest.
Location of many activities
This castle, which will celebrate its 600th anniversary next year, is nevertheless a very lively and lively site! Indeed, throughout the year, sometimes unique events and visits bring it to life for the greatest pleasure of visitors. Besides, the public was not mistaken. At the beginning of September, the castle welcomed its 100e visitor.
To discover the fortified castle of Sedan, there are multiple options: medieval festival in May, chivalry tournaments and torchlight tours in summer, an immersive circuit which immerses visitors in the heart of medieval life, an escape game to have fun while learning, guided tours which are sometimes gourmet, a 4* hotel and quality catering… Truly, the fortified castle of Sedan has many advantages to please as many people as possible.
