Théâtre "ENTRE VOS LIGNES", Sélène Assaf, La Comédie itinérante

Alone on stage, Sélène Assaf summons the voices of her two grandmothers, Téta and Néné, one Lebanese, the other French, and embodies them in turn. Written from childhood memories and interviews conducted by the author-actress herself, this autobiographical show starts from the personal to explore our relationship to identity and the difficult construction of self in the face of the weighty and sometimes contradictory cultural heritage bequeathed by those who lived before us.

A granddaughter, now an adult, moves between the lines of yesterday and those of today, guided by the melodies of Fayruz and Billie Holiday, between Brussels, Paris and Beirut, evoking, not without humor, the theatre, femininity, dreams as much as struggles.
