Indeed, this high location of 60 meters above the Aisne, with a steep slope makes it a first-rate observatory, which the Germans had also used as such during the war.
The observer discovers there over nearly 180° an extremely wide area of the Aisne valley; fifteen villages quite distant from each other can be discovered there without leaving the location.
